Matthew 5:28 is the famous scripture/bible verse that is quoted by billions of people who claim that Jesus said that men should never look at women in lust, and when a man does look sexually at a woman, he has committed adultery in his heart. At first glance, this bible verse does seem to say that. But that is the common problem of Babylonian, traditional religion. People read just one verse and jump to conclusion. I call it "one verse theogy". So that we don't follow the world's example of ignorance, let's examine that context of the scripture.
:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
The context is very clear that Jesus is speaking about the commanment that we should not commit adultery. This is the 6th commandment. If you look at the larger context of verses 18-37, it also confirms that the context is the keeping of the 10 commandments, which includes forbidding of adultery. In addition to the error of people taking verses out of context, another problem is that people apply false, traditional definations to words like adultery. People apply the word "adultery" to every find of sexual sin, and that's simply not correct. The true defination of adultery, in the context of biblical usage, is when a married person unlawfully cheats against their spouse. But you do NOT have a spouse if you are NOT married. Therefore, if you are NOT married, you can NOT commit adultery UNLESS the person you are looking at, or having sex with, is married and not lawful to be with. The fact that Jesus used the word "adultery" indicates to us that He was speaking about married people. He was NOT speaking about single people. There are NO examples in the bible where a single person committed physcial, sexual adultery with someone else who is also single! Because it's impossible!
Leviticus 18:20 You must not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and thus defile yourself with her.
Deuteronomy 22:22 If a man is found lying with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.
To confirm or reject, test or prove, any and all doctrine, we should always search the scriptures to see if we can find any related verse that confirms or corrects our understanding of a verse or doctrine. If we claim that it's a sin for a man to look at any woman, then we must back it up with another verse. And that's impossible to correctly do. Of course, false ministers will TRY to back it up with other scriptures, but it will again be scriptures that they are twisting and taking out of context, and/or words that they are applying false definations to. If we study the bible very carefully and in a very sincere search for the real truth, then we must admit that the word adultery is talking about when one or more of the people are married or not lawful to be married. And when we compare Matt.5:28 to the 10 commandments in Exodus 20 and with other verses, then we must also admit that Jesus was talking about married people.
It is NOT a sin for a male to feel and express the NATURAL, HEALTHLY lust that GOD gave him! It is GOD's will for most men to have lust for a woman, and pursue her, and attain her as his wife and continue to exercise lust toward her all the days of his life. And may that man's sons follow him in the footsteps of natural, GOD given masulinity and be attracted to girls, the way it is supposed to be!
In JESUS Name.
